What is it?
RedBall Express is a local fundraising event organized by the Rotary Clubs of La Plata County. All proceeds from the event support Rotary projects in La Plata County and local programs for people in need or at risk.
Adoption tickets are available for a $5 donation that allows the participant to adopt two of the red balls. The first two balls down the course win that adoption ticket holder $5,000. The second pair wins that adoption ticket holder $2,000, and the third pair wins that adoption ticket holder $1,000.
Since the arrival of the Rotary RedBall Express in La Plata County, the Rotary Clubs of Durango and Bayfield have raised over $500,000 for county wide service projects and donated funds to many local non-profits.

If you're not making someone else's life better, then you're wasting your time. Your life will become better by making other lives better.

RedBall Express Rules and Regulations
Presenter, the Rotary Clubs of La Plata County (comprised of the Rotary Club of Durango, Durango High Noon Rotary, the Rotary Club of Durango Daybreak and the Pine River Valley Centennial Rotary Club), shall race a maximum of 160 balls, representing a maximum of 12,720 2-ball number adoptions.
Balls will be launched at location and date printed on the Entry front. In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstance that would render the rolling of the balls impractical or overly difficult or dangerous, at the discretion of the Chairperson of the event whose decision shall be final, the balls shall be “virtually” rolled and a computer algorithm shall randomly select all of the winning and alternate two ball combinations.
All balls entered will be provided by the Presenter and shall remain the property of the Presenter.
The race course will be fenced, and, once launched, the numbered balls will be allowed to descend the course with no further propulsion other than gravity. However, if any balls stop or get stuck, Presenter reserves the right to move the balls forward manually as necessary randomly and without referencing any ball number which shall be hidden.
A two ball number combination shall be assigned to each Entry at the time such Entry is received by the Presenter. The person or entity whose name appears on the Entry with numbers corresponding to the winning or alternate two ball combination for each Prize will be the winner of each Prize. Positive identification of the person or entity on the Entry will be required to receive any Prize.
The Entry shall be completely filled out and delivered to Presenter prior to the race. There is a remote possibility of a sell-out; if entries are received after a sell-out, Presenter will return any funds.
No purchase is necessary in order to enter or win. Presenter does encourage a donation of at least $5.00 per adoption for the benefit of the non-profit organizations in the Durango area. One free Entry per person may be adopted by filling out a written request on a 3" by 5" card with name, address and phone number and presented, in person, to the Presenter at a weekly meeting of Durango High Noon Rotary, at the Durango Elks Lodge between 11:45 am and 12:00 pm on any Thursday prior to the race.
Winner will be announced as soon as possible following the finish of the race at the race location and on the event website. To win entrants do not need to be present at the race.
Any and all taxes and fees are the sole responsibility of the winner.
By entering, winner consents to the promotional use of their names and likenesses without additional compensation.
By entering, entrants release Presenter and all sponsors, their directors, officers, members, staff, and other related entities for any and all liability with respect to the prize or the race.
Chances of winning depend on the total number of qualified adoptions. The winning odds for 100 balls would be about 3 in 4950.
All decisions and interpretations of the rules and regulations will be made by Presenter and its judgment is final.
This event is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations, and is void when prohibited by law.
Members of the Rotary Clubs of La Plata County, spouses of such members and Race Referees will not be eligible to win any Prize. Entrants must be 18 years old or older to win a Prize. If an Entrant holding a winning two ball combination is ineligible to win for any of the above reasons, then that prize shall go to the Entrant holding the first alternate two ball combination. If two Entrants holding winning two ball combinations are each ineligible to win for any of the above reasons, then the prizes shall go to the Entrants holding the first and second alternate two ball combination in descending order based on the size of the prize, with the larger prize going to the first alternate two ball combination.
The cash prizes will be $5,000, $2,000 and $1000 respectively for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Prizes will be awarded to the winners in the form of a check. Winners will be required to complete a federal tax form 1099 to receive such Prizes and such form will be sent to the IRS.
Adopters should retain their Entry stub(s) until the winners are known.
